In April of 2009 the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that marriage between people of the same sex was a constitutional right to equal treatment under the law. The court found no compelling reason for the government to prohibit such marriages. This unleashed a political storm across the United States evan as Vermont, legalized gay marriage and New York was moving in that direction. Here are two different perspectives on this issue from two very smart and nationally known commentators both with deep Iowa connections.
