They are used to living in warm waters between 75- and 82-degrees Fahrenheit. The fish comes from areas where the climate is steady, and the temperatures do not fluctuate a lot, particularly water temperatures. Ideally, betta fish are accustomed to a given temperature range.

Think of it, being in a freezer for about an hour and then standing in an oven for another. It will not be comfortable and may result in death.

Keeping Your Betta Fish at Livable Temperatures
