Causes of Low Sex Drive in Women

While some of the times woman may have a low sex drive, it is abnormal if a woman has low libido for six months or more. Low sex drive can be so extreme that it affects a woman’s relationship with her partner or her self-confidence and that calls for some action.

Some symptoms of low sex desire in females may include a disinterest in sex or little interest in sex, difficult getting enjoyment from sex, and few or no sexual thoughts or fantasies. Furthermore, other signs include not getting pleasurable sensations even with genital stimulation, and lack of interest in initiating sex.

Luckily, women with low sex drive can use female arousal medications which act as a libido booster and even an orgasm enhancer. They will enjoy sex especially if it was due to issues to do with their bodies. If it is due to mental and emotional issues, they need more help.

Here are some of the cause of low libido in women:

Medical Diseases

Women may have low libido due to a myriad of non-sexual illnesses. The diseases may affect the blood flow to their genitals or even hormonal imbalances and other issues. Some of these diseases include arthritis, coronary artery disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and neurological disease, among others. While some of the diseases can be treated thus rectify the libido issues, some can only be managed because they are chronic. In such cases, the couple may need therapy to know how to cope with the problem.

Psychological Issues

Example of psychological problems include stress, low self-esteem , earlier negative sexual experiences and even poor body image. The good news is that most of these problems can be successfully sorted out.

Fatigue or Physical Exhaustion

For one to get sexually aroused, they must be relaxed and have the energy. Unfortunately, too much work and other physical activities can make a woman so exhausted that they barely have any energy left for sex. It could be due to busy schedules at work or demanding duties in the house like looking after the children and other-home making roles.

Fatigue may also result from medical conditions and treatments, like cancer management therapies. Also, a surgery could leave a woman so exhausted that it depletes their sexual desire. The good thing is that most of these situations can be dealt with, for example getting an extra hand to handle some chores.
